The Little Lebowski Urban Achievers.

I think you just described the entire sports industry.

Vagina.

Those two panels would not be out of place in a gay porno comic. Which probably explains the homophobia.

In order to sit down and hash things out with the other "side" you need to have a "side" in the first place. Hence the need for a union which changes their status from students to workers and allows them to do just that.

Ah, late 2013/early 2014 Gawker. Those were the days.

Thanks for responding. Yes, it is nice to see a critical mass of Mississippians around. While I was home for Christmas I watched that 30 for 30 doc about Marcus Dupree with my parents and young nephews. (I'd seen it before, but they don't have cable) I had heard about him growing up, but it was interesting to see

I grew up near Meridian. I live in NYC now. Between that info and my comment trail on here that's probably enough info to ID me for someone who's really looking. Not that anybody really cares, but it's not that hard to figure out. I've probably already said too much.

I'm from MS too, and I gotta say it's pretty awful. But yes, not everyone there is totally awful. I have some HS classmates who have surprised me by being supportive. Others, not so much.

Good insight. Thanks for sharing that. I don't know, people seem to assume everyone here is some snooty NYC liberal who's never been above 14th Street. I was born and raised in the South, and played college football. That's why I know how big a deal this is, for an older white Southern sportscaster to go to bat for

The man quoted black lesbian poet Audre Lorde. Audre. Fucking. Lorde. Now, I do wonder if he really knows he she is, or if he just plucked a quote off the Internet. But seriously, a venerable Texas sportscaster quoting Audre Lorde on TV is not something I expected to see in this lifetime.

Kerry Rhodes is a bad example. Teams passed on him precisely because there were rumors and he was still denying, which means they were going to get a media circus from an aging player who was reluctant about being a gay icon. This is someone who is 100% out and confident and a good young prospect. Whole different

Yes. This is reminiscent of Chris Henry. (Remember him?) And it makes you wonder if head trauma might be a contributor too. I would have dismissed that a few years ago, but hearing that they found Henry had CTE makes me a little queasy about things like this now.

I'm not as familiar with his work , but I've liked what I've heard.

Yes! I was just about to post a similar sentiment. Pannonica is one of my favorite Monk tunes, and this version most of all.

I don't think the response is "surprise" as much as indignation that MLB thinks it can moralize and grandstand about drugs when they profited from a doped up game and knew about it all along. A-Rod is a complete asshole (I live in NYC)l but I'm actually glad to see this getting played out in public.

That's OK. This will probably turn out to be a hoax anyway.

Taking the drugs is what helped them make millions of dollars. Given the incentives why wouldn't they do it? Especially when the league was willing to look the other way for so long.

Well, after all, they can only let in 25 people at a time. He tried to form a BBWAA2 room and sat in there by himself for a while, but finally gave up.

THIS. This is everything I hate about hiring and firing in college football now. They're just playing a really big, dumb game of musical chairs. Just like the NFL.
