An interesting article over at IEEE Spectrum details how Google's autonomous Prius became the first self-driving car to pass a state driving test. Even if it was a special autonomous car test with the route and acceptable weather conditions set by Google. And a Google engineer had to take over. Twice.

Couldn't agree more.

Or a good portion of pop music any decade. 60 years is a long time to separate the wheat from the chaff and we only remember the good stuff.

Surely I can't be the only one who would totally drive a LaFerrarivan?

Can confirm that the mobile version is excellent.

I've weighed this possibility against the more likely chance I'll have a 50 year old man in an oversized Hawaiian shirt covered in Mustangs tell me "Actually, it's an Eleanor clone" and decided it isn't worth the risk.

I also recommend checking out the mobile version!

Possibly because our commenters make more sense and give real feedback?

Mercedes should make a commercial that starts with the typical Apple product presentation, with a soft piano and xylophone music playing. A side close up of something glossy reflecting the light. And when a Johnny Ive-like voice starts talking... it's overrun by the deepest and loudest growl of the AMG GT.

The whole unrelatable to the road car thing loses all credibility when the high water mark for road racing in the USA was in the 80's...when the top level GT cars were tube frame vehicles with lookalike bodies draped over the top...same with Trans-Am.

Nailed it. The reason organizers slow cars down is because no one wants a repeat of Le Mans in 1955.

"If NASCAR dropped fifty miles an hour off their average laps, but went back to using real stock car chassis, would your really feel bad?"

Formula Mazda is a perfect spec series. Spec series don't belong in the top level of Motorsports.

A big part of that equation is that Daytona Prototypes are ugly. Part of the allure of road racing is to see beautiful machines do battle on the racetrack. If someone made a spec Mosler Raptor series, no one would watch it.

Between Grand-Am and ALMS, it certainly did. P1s, P2s, GT1, and LMPC were all faster than a DP, and people watched ALMS. They were two series fighting for the same eyeballs. When NASCAR bought ALMS they did some market research and found only 10% of people were fans of both series, but the majority favored the faster
