One data point, but Mr. Steve Matchett.

This is covered by section 14 of the tech regs. Two independent braking circuits are mandatory. However, the capacity is free. Toyota had at least one retirement last year when a hybrid system failure caused brake failure, the brakes couldn't do the job by them self.

OK. The problem with this discussion is using MJ is like describing combustion engines by fuel tank size. I've got to believe the TS040 and 919 out-hybrid the current F1 cars by a mile.

Audi actually had the advantage under the old rules; you could only harvest and discharge on the same axle. Since there is more braking energy to be had on the front axle, Toyota had to work super hard to harvest all the necessary energy from the rear axle.

Mandatory vision templates (big foam blocks during homologation) define a minimum area for the driver to see.

F1 ERS is puny compared to WEC ERS. F1 ERS = 0.4MJ. The Toyota and Porsche regen 6MJ/Lap. Unfortunately, the WEC guys don't publish energy store capacity, but it has to be much bigger. 0.4MJ would mean 15 full discharges/lap, probably half of that.

Tunnels are banned. LMP1's have a mandatory flat floor, complete with minimum dimensions. Still a big deal.

To be fair, Audi kept the open cockpit for a bunch of reasons. I bet pit time came way above air conditioning. Audi wins in the pits.

Lets take a min and look at the gorgeous livery on the WEC winning Toyota TS040. Sharp, clean, stands out. I love it.

6. Get rated as an amateur (Silver), instead of a pro. That way, you don't have to be fast enough to hang with the other pros, just fast enough to beat the gentleman drivers paying to be there.

I worked with a guy that had a backhoe stolen in Elizabeth NJ. Insurance paid his claim in full, and he went on with his life.

Also to be fair, truck destroying is an apt description of his last few Dakar's. (Except when the officials banged him on the tire inflation system a few years back. Got cheated there.)

Assuming single sided and standard 0.0032" copy paper, it would be 1.280".

If his fishing expedition is like the Dakar, he'll call another KAMAZ a few miles away. That guy will pull him out, drag the truck on it's side over the dunes, and flip it over.

Engineer here. I concur this is a self inflicted shit show.

Haven't heard about Ferrari, but I heard Renault missed the window for homologating the split turbo.

Lotus has a thing for Magnums.

The Lotus team runs Renault engines, so this follows.

So, for the guys doing the crazy bicycle stuff, are these kinds of helmets compatible with a Leatt device? All I know about the Leatt is that it's mandatory for the Dakar, and is like a HANS for motorcycles. Seems like keeping your neck in one piece is next on the to-do list after the skull.

This x100. Most of my cycling these days is towing a trailer with a toddler to various parks and whatnot. I'll take my time on the sidewalks rather than get him hit by a distracted housewife in a Denali. Additionally, the trailer is wide enough that me + parked car+ SUV is about a foot two narrow.
