I would agree with you if it was a $200 stick. Fortunately mine were always $20-30. And I’m a stringbean and in no position to fight anyone over a deliberately broken stick.

I played in adult rec leagues in the northeast. I’m 47, so we’re right around the same age. Off the top of my head, this happened to me about 1/2 dozen times.

That was about Claude LeMieux, right?

To be fair, I’m old and the vast majority of us were using wood.

Are you playing in an Edgelord league? Good gravy.

I don’t know what to tell you. It happened to me more than a few times. And we always had faceoffs.

That’s tremendous.

“Hey, we won two Soupys with a QB who looks like he eats paste, why don’t we try that again?”

This is one of the oldest tricks in the hockey book. Hell, I’ve had guys do that to me in rec league hockey. You step on the stick right after faceoff and hey maybe get a short advantage.

Was that the game where he made a save and held it up to show off and it fell out of his glove and into the net? Because that was deliciously hilarious.

Rask’s first NHL game came against Toronto, in Toronto.

Yeah, there’s definitely a tension there between penalizing action and penalizing results. And either is fair.

He lost to the Bruins in the playoffs as coach of Detroit too.

Bruins fan here. Babcock played Austin Matthews only 18 mins last night and I for one am confused but grateful.

Yeah, watching the Final last year I kept thinking, “Fluery’s playing great, how the hell did he get benched in the playoffs for Tomas Vokun at one point?”

Watching the replay of the 4 goals scored on the PP, man did Fluery look a bit shaken up. Reacting and banging his stick on the ice. I wonder if the whole team felt that way. I don’t know if Vegas had a time out at that point, but if they did they might have considered taking it.

That’s only a reasonable take. We’ve already seen it in baseball and hockey, no reason it can’t happen in basketball.

And trust me, the complaint about trading away their young promising players was one I had for a very long time, but over the years I think it’s never been nearly as bad as it was made out to be.

“10 long years.”

And yet they won a Cup and made another Final so I dunno what they’re doing right but it must be something.
