They explained at least one of the points - easier to get out on other side. For me, it’s a big selling point for that and the knee-room alone. I’m not a big fan of center consoles. Though I doubt I’d ever buy an EV as long as ICE/hybrid vehicles are around and my city keeps building more and more gas stations.

Fairly easy solutions are either put your stuff in cubbies (there’s a large cubby for purse in center console) or drive like a normal person and you should be ok.

Outside of some materials, I’ll happily take the interior of a WRX (or Honda) over a Rabbit. So tragically generic and the picnic tablecloth seat covers are an absolute eyesore. Regardless, next gen WRX has a nice interior at least on par with the sea of black you see in a lot of VWs.
