In 2013, UAB took in $18 million and change from student fees and funding from the school. Of total revenues of $28 million, 65% came from those two sources. Roughly a million dollars were from ticket sales. From 2005 - 2013, $93 million came directly from the school, and less than $10 million came from purchases.

He was talking about our practice fields. They are right outside. One of our players broke his ankle on a hole in the practice field this year.

First guy is Ty Long, Kicker.

One of the players calls Legion Field "shitty". Honestly that is an understatement. Amazes me the thing hasn't been condemned. It's a shame because it is such an historic venue, it would be nice to see it fixed up.

Cool, thanks. Interesting that one of the first teams in line in that scenario is any team making the move from FCS to FBS with at least a 6-6 record. So clearly this rule isn't that important to the NCAA if they're willing to waive it to make sure we get two teams on the field for the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl (a real

Outrageous rule, which I've seen firsthand at the D-II level for men's basketball as well. Daemen College's transition year from the NAIA to NCAA came in 2013-14, and after wiping the floor of the East Coast Conference with nearly every opponent (21-7 overall, 17-3 ECC), they were ineligible for any postseason play.

There are a series of tiebreakers for determining which 5-7 teams get into bowls if there aren't enough bowl-eligible teams, as outlined here.

Kind of a tangential question, but what would happen if there weren't 76 bowl eligible teams? Surely that's a possibility, since it was so close this year. It doesn't seem like they could cut a bowl game at the last minute, given that the preparation and fundraising is a year-long process. Would a 5-7 team get slotted

Appalachian State, which also moved up to the Sun Belt this year, similarly had their appeal denied today. They were 7-5 (6-2 in conference play) though, so their case isn't quite as strong as Georgia Southern's.

How are the other 4 that don't get to go to a bowl determined? Simply whover isn't invited based on monetary draw attractiveness? It's always just assumed when you hit 6 everyone at the team freaks out and says "we're going to a bowl" and that's not really true

And the Big 12 made it clear that there could be co-champions. No story here. Baylor PR spin. Surprised it worked.

Me: Yeah so they might have two, 'One True Champions'

So the "Big 12" with 10 teams that wants to have two "One True Champion"s. Let's remember this is also the conference that hosed Nebraska in the Big 12 title game (back when they had 12 teams and a title game) to keep Texas undefeated and in the BCS title game. The Big 12 has been paying for that ever since...

As a lawyer, I'm always pretty jealous when people get assigned to juries. Lawyers are typically the only people who are really interested in what goes on "behind the scenes" and we almost always get excused!

It'll be interesting insofar as watching the talking heads and the media circus will be interesting. From a purely football point of view it will simply be the gods restoring order to the universe.

I hope he starts just so he can get absolutely schooled by Andrew Luck, who is of course the most opposite person one can be from Johnny Manziel.

The idiots responsible for this should know better than to use unpaid staff at professional sporting events. It's college sports where you can get away with that sort of thing.
