Check out Tetris: The Games People Play by Box Brown. There was more to getting the game to the West than just a legal screw-up. It’s fascinating stuff.
It’s a really interesting story. The Gaming Historian did a really great video about it a few years ago.
I’m now immensely disappointed this wasn’t about falling blocks threatening civilization as we know it, and the one man crazy enough to stack us out of it.
DBZ had some good consistency of a romance, probably because of its comedy roots in Dragon Ball. Vegeta/Bulma was an absolute masterstroke. Its one think to have the cliche villain does a face turn thing. Its another for him to become this pretty dedicated husband and father while keeping a little bad boy streak, as a…
I actually prefer the more comedic direction of Super as a throwback to classic Dragonball, where everyone is good to roast one another.
This is a good, well though out, explained and evidenced article.
“you said you had protection!”
Piccolo is way underrated.
All the middle management feels useless, as they have no one to berate, micro-manage, or whatnot.
Tue, I always forget the very beginning Z arc begins with most of the Z Fighters wary of Piccolo because of the whole King Piccolo thing from OG DragonBall.
This article was definitely written by a true fan, and was very thoughtful and tastefully done despite so many people dismissing DB, particularly in this aspect. There can be more that's awesome about Dragon Ball than just the fighting, and it's real power is its relationships and families and the growth we get to see…
I personnaly like that Bulma and Vegeta’s couple began as a fling (which produced a child) that broke Bulma previous couple (Yamcha: the guy really can’t get a break) with heavy undertone of infidelity.
Vegeta and Piccolo stand on the same platform. They both went through the same arc to a degree but since most people state-side never really watched DB they missed on how impactful Piccolo’s sacrifice for Gohan really was.
Yeah DragonBall is still my favorite shonen, no regrets. It’s as goofy, convoluted and bloated with upgrades and power-ups as any other shonen, but it’s just so damn good, and has such great, endearing characters that have stood the test of time, decades at this point.
Yeah, I really liked Vegeta’s development throughout the series. Mind, DBZ is not great in its plot, but it handles its character relationships well(...sans the ‘kid-raising’ part a bit). Vegeta and Bulma’s relationship lacked its budding, ‘hand-holding’ moments and montages, but as the article lays out there were…
Or, modders should be recognized for their work and it’s weird that this mod made it into a release version of the game with no one from CDPR ever even reaching out to the modder for permission.
Seeing a lot of “I’m 32 in and I’m a land whale” and I’m betting their lazy doctors are telling them to lose weight because that is what lazy doctors do. Tell you that losing weight is a miracle cure-all. And there is always the idea that it’s easy to lose weight as well.
It’s bad design. Six Flags and other park aren’t this restrictive, and I doubt this Mario Kart rides goes all that hard.
So I’m guessing they just copy and pasted the ride from Universal Japan to get it open as fast as possible?
