@DanteCastor: Yup, what Jupiter said and the fact that they want to smooth out some bugs. It should be back soon, but I would use the Google all the time anyways. I find it better and more accurate than the Gawker search.
@funstraw: How is it ironic? They want to keep their users safe and make sure that, if such an attack should happen again, most passwords will remain hard to decrypt.
@jShazbot2: Yes, if you email an editor then usually they can strip the FB ID from your account -if you're interested.
