Yes, it's still around. Yes, it's based off Air Combat. There have been numerous Ace Combat games since 4. Ace Combat Infinity is a F2P co-op multiplayer combat flight sim for PS3, with regular tournament events where you can win prizes like new planes or fancy emblems if you rank high enough.

Oh man, that'd be awesome. Gen 2 holds a special place in my heart purely because Silver is... actually an antagonistic rival! None of this chickenshit "friendly competition" nonsense that took over in the later games. Just that alone made G/S/C stand out for me.
