Yeah, Guns is a better pick in the short run, but once you start acquiring some of the more unique and potent energy weps, you eventually become unstoppable, like the Prototype Tesla Cannon and the Holorifle in the Dead Money DLC.
Yeah, I'm with you. I keep wanting to do a melee playthrough as well, (you eventually reach a point where you can 2-hit-KO everything with the right perks/weapons), but I end up going back to just blasting things with energy weapons and only get around to maxing out my melee weapons skill at the endgame.
