The point was that the ping is supposed to be 60 s, but can be significantly longer, due to server traffic, but it still has a cutoff of 300 m. So if the ping is especially bad, you could easily meet the cutoff.

Mine shows me moving on the map even when it loses connection to the servers, so I’m guessing the logging and location animation are done separately.
