The RX8 has one of the best clusters I’ve ever seen. It’s a perfect fit to match the engine. Large central tachometer that I could watch spin all day, a clear digital speedo, simple analog gauges for Fuel, Oil, Water. It’s all front-lit too, so it looks just as good at night as it does during the day. I’m fairly

I didn’t buy my 3 Mazdas because they’re mainstream either, and given the way the engineers keep giving the press little details (like how the AWD/2.5T/Manual is technically possible) I don’t think they’re fully on-board either. Marketing keeps using the Rotary and Design keeps giving us RX concepts. I get a strong

I’m getting there. I love the way their cars drive. I have a ‘99 Miata, an ‘09 RX8, and my wife’s ‘15 Mazda6. They’re all great cars and I love the way they drive, and when I try something else it’s not as good (esp. Ford, the contrast between the Fusion and the 6 is stark) but man, the executives at press time are

I’ve been saying this too. I don’t care if they call it a Mazdaspeed. I just want a car that drives like a Mazda and has the power I expect. I have an RX8, a Miata, and my wife drives a Mazda 6. I love my Mazdas but the RX8 isn’t long for my garage, I’d like to get a more practical car. A 3 is perfect but I don’t want

Agreed. I’ve got a friend with the Type R and the styling is his only real downside. The inside’s nice (though the new Mazdas look nicer, if the new 3 will be anything like the new 6) but as a maturing adult (in his case pushing 40, in mine low 30-something) the boy-racer be-winged Type R is a bit much. He loves it

You and me both. I’m pulling for it and sitting here willing to buy something resembling a Speed3 and...nothing.

THIS! STOP PUTTING THE WINNER IN THE HEADLINE. I JUST WOKE UP AND WAS GOING TO WATCH THE RACE.  IT’S TOO SOON!

The all-important question, I think, is will Skyactiv-X be available with a manual? I’m very interested but won’t buy it without one.

$77k and the ATS doesn’t have a digital cluster yet? I’ve spent a lot of time in an ATS (work car) and love how it drives but that instrumentation has bothered me since day 1. I’ve never understood why/how it got out of Studio and why/how it’s never been updated.

The Edge is the wrong car to build an RS model for. The Escape is at least still on the same platform, so in spite of being a little taller and a little heavier it still isn’t a bloated monstrosity. They managed to build an interesting car out of the mundane base focus, I’m sure the Escape isn’t a completely lost

I’ll bet it’s a studio render at best. Something a designer whipped up and sent over to the marketing firm when asked for something that looked futuristic.

Now that the LCD screens in the cluster are so common, I agree, I think we can move away from the big center screens. The radio information can be presented in a simpler smaller screen still. If Toyota were bold enough to say “enough is enough” it would make the Supra still impressive despite this NSX-style drawn out

They could get Canadian Tire or Tim Horton’s as title sponsors. Other sponsors could include Canadian Club, Canada Dry, and...oh hey, Gulf Canada.

I’d love to see a Gulf livery car in F1. With Williams loosing their Martini deal getting a classic livery back in the pack would be cool.

I think the point here is that the existing regs are going to continue to make the sales price for a car more expensive year over year. At this point the cheapest known car in Ford’s future lineup is the Ecosport. It’s a $19k car. We’re pricing the bottom of the current new market ($13k to $16k) out of new cars and

They were probably made for an auto show.  I have a complete set of 2014 Chevrolet Car & Truck trading cards at my desk.  They used to give away all kinds of stuff at the Detroit show.  My favorite is the pin for the Code130R.

Don’t forget Diebuster. Zero-Two basically becomes Nono Buster Machine 7 and fights faceless space-aliens that are completely derivative of the Space Monsters, especially the black-hole powered wedge-shaped one.

This is one of my nightmare scenarios. It’s happened 3-4 times in my life on the freeway and it’s always a code-brown type event. It happens a little more often on surface streets as somebody diverts to a turn lane and I’m suddenly faced with an unexpectedly long column of traffic. That old line about having enough

I think tires are key here. Ditch the 2-different compound thing for this race and make everyone run one spec tire that’s expected to require somewhere between 2 and 4 pit stops.

The Indy race on Belle Isle is similarly difficult from a passing standpoint so pit strategy is huge in the race. Do you stretch the tires

The anime medium tends to be a bit flat, 2D even. Remember there’s regularly shows with ideas like a guy that turns soda cans into girls who fight about steel vs aluminum, or a world where girls fight using only their boobs and butts. I expect far better from Trigger, so I don’t exactly share the OP’s surprise but in

The partnership already exists. Toyota’s been doing some joint-ventures with both Subaru and Mazda in recent years to create better business cases for niche-market vehicles. Toyota sells the Mazda 2 as a Yaris sedan today.
