I would love for them to get back to what I personally consider the series high point and refine it. Unity (ya ya ya i know). When you look at Unity tried to do, it really stands out as the apex of the series. A big, beautiful urban landscape, fluid, fun and skill based parkour (i fucking hate the parkour in Origins

The Ezio trilogy really is still my favorite in the series and I haven’t finished a single AC game since Black Flag and I really only stuck around with that one because pirates. Similar for AC3 because I enjoyed the ship combat, but also because of the early US setting.

Funny, I’d say the exact opposite. I think they need to focus more on a concise narrative, improved traversal and a more optional approach to missions and gearing similar to Brotherhood/Flag/Revelations.

Am I missing something here? Who killed her and when? I thought she had just (wisely) blocked Dex.

I’m not seeing an argument.  Glad we agree!

“By “transcending the genre” I interpret it as being a movie whose content evolved or exceeded the limits of a given genre and became at once part of that genre while being something altogether different.”

“despite being actually really bad”

that’s exactly what he’s saying. he’s saying the dark knight changed the perception of superhero movies for the mainstream public and that marvel eventually benefitted from that.

of the tone being the first superhero movie to really nail that “grimdark” feel without any real winking.

“You wrote that it “transcended the genre” not that it “transcended geek culture.””

“It didn’t really transcend the genre”

“Plus The Dark Knight isn’t anywhere near as important to the genre.”

Yes. Despite loving the first two, I never watched 3. I mocked the dancing with the rest of you,but that was all I saw. However, Topher was clearly supposed to be exactly like Peter Parker, but lacking that inner goodness. The casting works well with that in mind.

Topper Grace made sense on the basis of Eddie Brock as a dark mirror of Peter Parker as reporter. Similar age, physical type, little guy demeanor. His inherent reedy voiced smarm worked well prior to becoming a CGI people eating monster.

Do I get to wear an outfit with a hood? Do I get a hidden blade? No? Then hard pass. This is “Assassin’s Creed.” There should be no alternatives. I’m all for letting series evolve and try new things, but the further they stray from being an assassin, even if it’s an optional skill tree, it’s not Assassin’s Creed

So after years of me never having the chance to review an AC game, having been in college and freelancing and now finally worked my ass to this moment in time, I finally get a chance say that I think that people bitched too much about Assassin’s Creed III?

Ten months after the movie came out, what we really needed was to hear an opinion on TLJ that is exactly the same as eleven billion other opinions we’d already heard.

Yeah, none of that is true. Maybe there were people who were praising TLJ right around when it came out, but for the past 8 months or so all I’ve seen are people preemptively bitching about how persecuted they are for disliking it.

No, you’re a whiny baby because you won’t shut up about it.

This game is a full blown RPG now. Not an RPG lite like Origins was. It has a level system, stats, weapons and armor, as well as branching paths that change the story.   So more like Witcher 3 but with stealth assassin stuff.

Syndicate was the last of the classic Assassins Creed playstyle.  The last two games have been
