Best thing is to find a job that necessitates a powerful PC, so however much you spend on it it’s totally justified (and tax deductible).

Can’t speak for anyone else, but when I was buying games in the late 90's/early 00's for the PC, I was getting waaaaay more than a month’s worth of enjoyment out of a single purchase.
