The problem with F2P mechanics is that it requires adding stuff that doesn’t make sense from a gameplay perspective, with the sole reason behind it being to incite players to part with their cash. There is no game-related reason for these mechanics to exist.

In a past life, some years ago (mostly during the 360 and PS3 days), I was an active member on both Sony and Microsoft dedicated forums (including the official ones) and boy, let me tell you that the Sony side had some of the most irrational fanboyism level I’ve ever seen.

I mean, sure, there was Xbox fanboys too on Xb

I think a Pi 4 could be enough for N64, at least for Mario 64, which most emulators can run decently. And use something like Batocera (an OS dedicated to retro emulation), which is dead easy to install (just flash the system OS to an SD card and put it in your Pi and that’s it).

Well, while I would never say piracy is mostly a victimless crime, I’m also not believing whatever ridiculous numbers companies are putting out when seeking damages, roughly equating each pirated copy as a lost sale. Because that’s ridiculous. I think reality is much more nuanced than what both sides are claiming it

In a world of standardized generic brown depressing post-apocalyptic multiplayer shooters, this is one of those very, very, very rare game I’m actually tempted to buy on day one.

One thing Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo haven’t thought about... What would now be the rationale for playing pirated copies of games? Because there are a lot of people out there citing “because there’s no demo” as a reason to pirate games... Why won’t anyone think of the pirates? Those poor souls. They’ll have to think

It still baffles me that people think that they can use someone else’s intellectual property and use it to create a for-profit venture of their own and get away with it.

Them knowing your name is just a sign that they actually care about their clients for real and see them as persons, not just as walking wallets. It gives a friendly impression, and implies a friendly shopping experience. It feels like you can have an actual conversation with the seller/clerk/store owner about what

The stores I still like to go to these days are vinyl/record stores. Why? Because nothing beats getting into a store and having the person behind the counter greet you by your first name. Nothing beats well-informed employees that are passionate about what they’re selling, AND not completely stressed out.

Every

I know it’s not targeting the same gamers, but in some cases, there are definite overlaps. For instance, I’ve been playing with portable gaming PCs like the Steam Deck since many years now (they’re not anything new), and while those were always pricier than a Switch (sometimes much pricier), the fact that my PC

Given what I see all the time on social media, with people posting stupid shit under their real name, and even acting like being proud to show the world how dumb they are, I don’t think it would be much more different.

Maybe a bit less severe with stuff that could get you arrested, like, you know, death threats and

People need to chill the fuck out.

The problem with modern consoles, and that has been especially true for the PS5 and XSX/S, is that the only thing they’re bringing to the table are quality of life improvements. Like you mentioned, faster loading and ray tracing does not prevent a game from being able to run on the previous generation, unless these

Demos were useful 20-25 years ago. You know, when they were packed on a CD or DVD with a magazine, or when games were simpler and didn’t require almost all of the game assets to showcase a time-limited demo of the full thing. Very few people are interested in downloading a 20gb+ game demo when there are TONS of

Every time a mass shooting like this happens in the U.S. people fill up the pockets of firearm makers by buying even more guns (for supposedly protecting themselves and their family), which make shares of firearm manufacturers skyrocket on the stock exchange as well. This happens after every f-ing massacre like this.

The old logo definitely had that 90's/early 2000 vibe to it, which made it visually dated, but at the same time, it had a soul, looked unique and was easily identifiable.

...and workers creating income for their bosses and fishing for votes of minorities who oppose mask mandates is more important than general public health and safety

And this is what gives me no hope for us as a species.

I don’t remember who said it, but some time ago, I saw a post saying something like “This is the first time in history in which we can actually save lives by keeping our ass on the couch and watch Netflix and play videogames. And we even failed that.”

Last weekend was the first time ever I’ve seen a next gen console being available to buy over the counter in a physical store, which also means being sold at MSRP. It’s quite unbelievable. I kinda want to get a Series X, but then again, those new consoles are so big that none of them fit in my entertainment center.

Netflix is to streaming services what McDonald’s is to food. It’s target market is the lowest common denominator, with a product that is passable enough for consumption. Anyone expecting anything “great” from these is profoundly misguided.
