I didn’t read it like that. They seemed like genuine or pretend genuine compliments about the food which that audience would truly appreciate. Not -Bwhahaha I’m eating all your lovingly home cooked food because you idiots thought Shy was straight.

Interesting. I thought it was clear that Mei was intimidated by Midge and that Midge could have done the kind thing and just...wish her the best? Rather than one-upping her and then going on stage to perform a very personal act about her relationship with Joel without anyone’s permission?

“I was so hurt for Mei when Midge couldn’t even just give her the pride of studying to be a doctor before one-upping her. You chose not to have Joel, Midge. Let the woman he is dating have a bit of the limelight for once.”

I don’t think the show is going to turn on Midge; this is an Amy Sherman-Palladino production - the Gilmore Girls were the two biggest jerks in Stars Hollow, and the show expected us to love them. 

I think she was fired owing more to Shy’s fear and insecurity that any little clue will out him, not any actual audience members putting the clues together. It’s 1960, unless an attractive lady’s man flat out said he was gay no one would think he was. That being said Shy’s fear is real and comes from years of hiding…

It’s the physicality that Luke is bringing that’s really selling it. The accent is icing. Lenny Bruce was not a normal cat. I really like that he’s leaning so hard into his idiosyncrasies.

The writers could go full Tarantino and revise history. I wouldn’t be mad.

Seriously that chemistry is so good. Just amazing. And his look in the end... heartbreaking. That definitely was some fantastic acting! 

On the actors’ chemistry: Rachel’s IRL husband Jason Ralph is a very handsome man, but if I were him, after the rhumba’d Til There Was You, I’d be saying, “Oooookay, that’s enough of that.”
