Lord the XLR was and is a hot pile of “creative decisions” to put nicely. Focus groups definitely made that car. Its like they gave them a list of 3-4 options and they chose 1-2 of them. Then they just kinda shove components on a platform and made it sorta work.

A flagship does exist. Sadly its the Escalade. There however isn’t a big “eff off poors” sedan they make anywhere near as nice as the Germans or the Japanese. Hell the Koreans are getting there faster then Cadillac.

As for why a turbocharger. I’m gonna guess market acceptance for one. Efficiency for two and the ability to package the turbo more flexibly around the engine bay over a supercharger traditionally sitting in the v of the engine.

The color mismatch can and is corrected by more higher end companies because they use smaller, more appropriate batch sizes. The humidity here in Louisiana KILLS 70's-2000's headliners till they swapped to the better glue process from factories. Sadly the same for the door trims and interior pieces glued in. GM uses the same adhesive for it all (see cheaper). Go figure.

To keep silicone o rings supple when thermal expansion squished them when rocket components were heating up rapidly. You could get some really awkward shapes that needed to be sealed and the rings moving NEEDED to happen else fuel would go everywhere it wasn’t supposed to go.
