It’s fixable. However GM only has a year on their paint warranty. It’s total garbage. Bonus since it’s not considered a “defect” it’s not covered.
The Dealership to correct it needs to blend in the fenders and quarters as well as hood and trunk/lift gate to fix it.
Kinda shocked they didn’t wanna do that and invoice…

Most manufacturers are bad at this Toyota seems to be the forerunner in doing it wrong tho. Check the paint options that cost extra. they are the worst ones for it. GM with their metallic red and pearl whites as well as Toyota with any three stage paint.

A bit of lexan and a center beam on that rear Escort hatch should prove better then nothing on that. As for the sides. A bit of the shrink wrap vinyl should prove a quick and simple way to close that out. Just add a few more cross braces to close out the curve and keep the shape. 

Hay now. GM’s painting process leads to 7-11 different hues on the same paint color across a lot. Take a good look at most of the bumpers and trim pieces and notice they are a different color then the rest of the car.
