ZARDOZ!!
I wanna see the old cast again. It would validate it as Star Wars, otherwise it would feel like some new weird movie. Besides, it would be nice to see a film that's not pandering to the teenage or 20 year old demographic.
Maybe on HBO? There's still the basic problem with network television that people overlook: it's stupid. Deliberately so. Half of the people in the world have below-average intelligence. That's who network television is written for.
Nemo's entrance in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Wouldn't surprise me if Lucas didn't have this in mind when he conceived Vader's entrance. Still totally works today. Sequence starts around 27:50.
Baron Harkonnens first scene is unforgettable
This was a pretty auspicious introduction.
Vader's intro in a New Hope.
Coronation, Starscream? This is bad comedy.
It's only a model.
I'm throwing in Weird Science. Because in the 80s, getting Kelly LeBrock to appear at your house, take a shower with you and teach you how to be cool and help you land a girlfriend was total absolute fantasy. And who doesn't like a soundtrack with Danny Elfman on it?
No love for Ladyhawke?
Crom laughs at your Fantasy movies
The Lord of The Rings movie trilogy - yep, I count all of then as one movie basically. Great story, great characters, great cinematography and a timeless soundtrack by Howard Shore !
Willow
I do believe this counts.
The Princess Bride. I don't know any films that nailed a better mix of comedy, action, and earnestness.
The death of the EU is just sad. Not because the EU will be gone. Most of it was garbage anyway. But because EU fans are finally going to realize that no one ever really cared about them or really even knew they were there.
Keep Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi. Dump everything else into the garbage compactor on level -where are we?
How about people who are reading the books, haven't finished, and are scanning io9 for non-Game of Thrones news and see this headline?
