Unfortunately for Aquaman's character, he still lives in the world's toilet (aka The Ocean). Hard to root for a guy when the majority of the world doesn't give a crap about what hes fighting to protect. Well they give the ocean crap, lots of it, but not him.

I would guess that part of him being pulled back in will have partly to do with what happens with Bryan singer. If singer craters from the legal allegations and fox needs a new creator they might want to keep him longer in order to keep things on the rails. Just a guess.
