Just think of this definition as the same way when you heard someone use synergy at a meeting for the first time or low hanging fruit. Words and meaning get all sorts of twisted and abused these days. I'm not the first to use it that way. If it makes you feel any better I still literally cringe every time I see

Here's a 3d artist named Steve James. These heads are just speed sculpt studies and already they are better looking than what is being shown in the SW preview. Again there is lots of talent out there who would jump at the chance to do Star Wars. Why they seem to be going the way they are, I can't even guess.

Another possible style sample from an artist named Alejandro. Its still super hero theme but the proportions, shaders, and stylization are what I am trying to convey to you from this example:

One more of his stuff:

I'm not sidestepping I just don't agree with your definition. Production value is a blanket term that incorporates everything from art direction to technical nitty gritty production details. If something has a high production value, usually its inferred that not only is it technically executed well, but everything

For live action I totally agree. When you start going into the realm of animation the visuals can hinder the storytelling. One example of this that springs to mind would be Exosquad. It was a robot series from the 90s and they were trying to do some more adult storytelling, but the visuals were just too weak to

Again I'm not going to get into Clone Wars. Thats a whole topic in itself, I have a long list of issues with that show visually (not story wise).

While both of those shows you mentioned are great, T:U is deceivingly complex in terms of its mixture of 3d and 2d elements, animation squash and stretch techniques and camera work. The story may not have been the best, but the production values were skyhigh and some great animation and fluid action scenes.

Yes and it doesn't change the fact that the base they are working from is mediocre. When trying to generate hype at an early stage its usually a good idea to lead with your best foot forward.

Has there ever been an explanation why they didn't go with this instead? Seems like it would have solved a lot of issues

Now playing

Why is it that the biggest IP in the world has to have mediocre looking cartoons? They should have at least hired the team who did Tron Uprising. T:U had a cool 3d and 2d mixed art style, a bit of east meets west, with superb animation and shot work.

What I never understood was why they killed will smith instead of keeping him around if there was such interest in a franchise. The studio could have insisted on an open ending yet they chose to close the door on any possible future franchise. Yet they wanted a franchise from it. That bizarre logic twist I would love

The tron legacy score was amazing. I wish they could use it for more films with techno themes

Amc makes it money selling ads. Are they really going to go all out on the show and find enough advertisers willing to pay big bucks for a show with a character with a talking ass??

I'm just curious is AMC going to really try to be faithful to the material. Twd is pretty adult but they don't swear much, very few bewbs, and while the violence is graphic does primarily revolve around human vs zombie combat. Preacher gets pretty raw, I just have a hard time believing they can even come close to the

I agree, and would also add that a really important element is the film shooting for the stars in the eyes of the studio but clearly never living up to what they thought it would be. Green lantern's appeal was most likely viewed internally as star wars meets superhereos. That kind of crossover can only print money

You stand alone as a beacon of hope to all mankind. Carry on.

Yeah its core is a western in space. They take a lot of influence s from different famous western films

Good call didn't really think about this before but you are right it works together!

For some reason I always thought Saturn 3 and Outland shared the same universe. Something about the art direction for those two seem to go together...
