Great book — Geneen is a treasure, really gets the whole connection between food and emotions, and now money and emotions. I've met her and heard her speak, she is the real deal and has changed my life in many ways.

I've got you beat, as I have a CLEAR memory of Mark Spitz. I remember we all had posters of him on our walls, and I think someone said there was one where you could see what was under his Speedo. Racy times, those '70s.
Find a good haircutter who can help you transition it to a natural color, and/or tweak up the silver. I know someone who did this recently and it looks amazing and so much better than dyed.
I am so with you on this. I am a huge proponent of bioidentical hormone therapy. Helps this 50-something stay looking juicy and hot, and my silver-streaked shoulder length hair very full and shiny. You will pry it out of my cold dead hands before i give it up.
Yes, in terms of the time/money she and other stars put into themselves — it is part of their jobs to look amazing, and as a pop star, I imagine, youthful. Some people go for graduate degrees, others for face fillers, etc. to keep up.
I'm partial to Kurt Andersen/Studio 360 and Jesse Thorne/Bullseye. And Ira Glass, 4-evah.
Agreed. I think he's aging really well, and not having to be a slave to the pretty-boy looks. It's like he's more free to take himself less seriously.
Thank you, yes, me too, can't hate on her. Too much history/association, as we are close in age. I also wish she'd chill with all the face work. But that body don't lie, and it takes quite a lot to maintain it. So for that she has my props.
Love the white hair and the seemingly natural state of her face and skin! And the beaming smile. She's ever magnificent.
I know, it's doesn't make sense on some level, but it is how it is. I've worked with a lot of chefs (not in the kitchen directly), and what people tend to forget is that cheffing is at its essence a trade...not that there's anything wrong with that, at all, It's not my intention to be sexist/gendered. Many, many…
I'm finally reading through all of this, and I was thinking the same thing.
@FelicityFox, why do you say that? I'm sincerely curious. Charlatan is a strong word.
Terrific reporting, super creepy doctor.
Me too! His sexitude will never cease (hopefully like mine as well).
I just started watching Sherlock on demand last night. and I'm here to say, I GET IT NOW about the Benedict Cumberbatch love fest! Wow is he sexy. Loving the show and supporting characters. Totally adding it to my rotation. Smart and fun.
Whoa now. Some of us like our men short, muscly and pugnacious. Sean has always been one of my favorites, felt like we grew up together. In my 20s I even dated a guy who looked like him. Has a great body of work.
and what does that have to do with what happened with Nigella? BIG difference between spousal abuse and what 2 adults do in a consenting manner in private.
YAY glad to see this, as someone over 50 — we are a sexy, powerful bunch! So many of these women are amazing to look at and listen to and the world needs to continue noticing.
Thanks for your commentary and for your primers, which I just read and wouldn't have seen otherwise!
I hear you there. I have a thing for short guys, always have. I'm 5'2" so I'm usually looking up. My bf and I as it happens are about the same height. He describes himself, quite confidently, as "fun size," and through sheer will and charm on his part apparently there was no shortage of takers before I hit the scene.
