Re Gaga's performance — As others have noted, it totally brought to mind Madonna, also Prince, to me. I like to think it was an homage — especially given the I dream of Jeannie ponytail+voguing moves. But yes, it seemed derivative. Although the message was wonderful.

This post has sent me down the YouTube rabbit hole, and I realized I forgot ERASURE. I love these guys so much, nothing makes me want to dance/move more. Just found a remix of their great, great song A Little Respect... it holds up after 20+ years, and this recent remix/video really drives home the meaning (*sniff*).

This song is rock and roll perfection, IMO. Love the wordplay. I've always indentified with "The simple things you see are all complicated/I look pretty young but I'm just back-dated." OK, time to go back to work now...

@1girl: Absolutely! She's a big boned gal, in the best sense of the phrase, and she's proud of how she looks. She wears the hell out of clothes and is an awesome representation of our country.
