Alex Trebek is very high on the list of people that can practically do no wrong in my eyes, thus I am extremely jealous of this interaction.

One time I got invited to hangout backstage during a taping of Deal or No Deal. Howie Mandel was super nice but kind of shy. The models who held the briefcases were the absolute nicest, sweetest people and came and hung out with everyone in the audience. Then we went out to a giant, ridiculous drunken dinner in a

Your equating of a fart and a hot, wet shit reminds me of my former friend who called a slight taps "hits." I mean, c'mon, words have meanings for a reason. Flatulence and defecation are two very different things in the level of social acceptability. If you don't believe me, conduct your own study of farting while

YES. Thank you. And you're also right, the word "semantic" change has to do with the word itself, rather than the meaning of the word (which is what I was trying to say). And you among others have astutely pointed out that even if we called the word "omgmenrock" there would still be harsh pushback to it because of

Correction: Where the original concept (was) to bring females up to equal terms, the conservative media has been successful in altering their constituents perception of the word to mean "bring females up, and everyone down"

Have a look at Newt Gingrich's 1996 GOPAC memo "Language, a Key Mechanism of Control" while it

If you've only noticed the claim that equality for women is the same thing as chauvinism "as the years have gone on," you really haven't been paying attention. People have been suggesting that since before women got the vote.

Ugh I complained about that on the io9 post. WHY do movie trailer people think we're so dumb? The images on screen told everything just fine...I really didn't need mr. movie voice. It's distracting and makes me not want to see it.

Thank you for one of the only rational responses in this thread. I don't think of things so much as moral/immoral. I think more in terms of actions and consequences. DashleyinCali handled this situation as well as can be expected; she was supportive of her friend while not condoning her actions, and focused more on

I love the part of the "detox" whenever a friend is on a "cleanse" or says he/she only eats organic because of the "toxins" I ask them to name one...

They all agree I'm a pedantic asshole, but at least I'm not eating nothing but water with maple syrup and cayenne pepper for 3 weeks.

This used to be my favorite feature! Now, it's unreadable. I couldn't get through the first recap. The Buzzfeed Internet speak + random pop culture references are melting my mind.

I couldn't do it. Dirtbag shouldn't feel like work.

I couldn't get through it. TOO MANY CAPS, and too much bold and BOLD CAPS and why so many questions marks???? And then all the cray-cray made up wordzzzzz, iz that sposed to be foonay you guise? (I can't even write like that, I must be too old or something) I just want easily digested celebrity gossip, not "But I

thank you! I have pretty full lips, but if I smile the way she is, my lips look thin. This is just how faces work.

Pretty sure she's talking about the next time she gets pregnant, and also, fuck you for thinking she is grieving in the "wrong" way. Fuck you one million times forever.

While I'm certain this individual feels legitimate stress over her decision, I take HUGE issues with this pervasive narrative thay abortion is always a massive decision with overwhelming emotional consequences, and this is why we should always respect a woman's right to choose.

Anyone who doesn't answer "mandolin slicer" is a damn fool. What's that? Need me to julienne boat loads of veggies or slice 5 lbs of potatoes for au gratin that's going to take 15 minutes with a knife? Ok, I got this shit in 30 seconds...

"Native American" is more offensive than Indian. There was no such thing as "America" when the first nations arrived here, so how could they be native to something that doesn't exist? The only truly correct term is "indigenous," but that's boring and elitist sounding.

If you're concerned about the term "Indian", you might consider asking the opinion of the American Indian Movement.

Just a thought.

Indian is the preferred term for most tribes, and is not generally considered offensive or archaic
