Hmmm. I haven't driven a Prius and was only inside one once, many years ago, so I can't compare. But the CT200h is bigger than the Mini I traded it for!

Hahahahaha grosssss...
This didn't happen to me, so call it apocryphal if you must, but it's still a great story I heard from a friend.
Oh, and it was about $35,000, so fairly inexpensive for a Lexus!
I just got a Lexus CT200 hybrid. First tank I averaged 45 mpg. It's a hatchback with reasonable space for regular hauling that gets nice and roomy with the back seats folded flat. I loves it.
Thanks for the feedback! Based on your comment and others, I'm definitely asking about Paraguard.
Thanks, I'll ask about that. Although to be honest, I'm shy of trying anything with hormones after my experience.
Interestingly, my (male) gyno has encouraged me to try a permanent solution. He wants me to consider Essure, which is a small plastic coil inserted in the Fallopian tubes that causes scar tissue to form and block the tube. It's an outpatient procedure and much easier than tubal ligation, and just as effective. He is…
My doc has told me that since I haven't had kids, the IUD is more likely to spontaneously come out without my realizing it. Maybe things have changed? I'm going to ask her next time.
A couple doctors have advised against the IUD for me. I can only use the copper version since the others are hormonal - maybe things have changed in the 11 years since I had the clot. I should probably ask; I haven't brought it up with my doc in a long time.
I took the pill and it was mostly okay, until I ended up getting a pulmonary embolism - a blood clot in my lung. Yeah. I was the 1 in 100,000, since blood work afterwards didn't reveal any genetic predispositions for clotting. So I can never use hormonal BC again. I can't use the IUD with confidence either because…
I have discharge stains in my underwear. I don't care. I wash them. They're clean. That's what they're for.
This is why it hurt my brain - being an anthropologist and all - to watch Dawn of the Planet of the Apes; and also why as soon as I saw the tagline for Lucy about the whole "10% of your brain blah blah" I knew I wouldn't be able to watch it.
Well, if being concerned about humor that is based on racial stereotypes or cultural insensitivity makes me painfully earnest, then I gladly embrace the pain. And honestly, I am all for gallows humor; I just find that it sometimes gets too easy to forget that this stuff can be hurtful and that's what I react to.
When you say there are a "bajillion Holocaust jokes out there already." I.e., there are a lot of them so that must make them ok. Perhaps I missed your point; you just didn't want to add another Holocaust joke because there are so many already. In that case, I am wrong about the appeal to popularity.
I'm new to the Jezebel community and don't comment online much in general, so thank you for introducing me to the concept of Godwinning. I like it. That said, I used the Holocaust example in this case because I find it to be an effective way to get people to put jokes or cultural appropriation about Native Americans…
No, not at all. The point I was trying to make was that you can't justify doing a bad thing by saying other people do the bad thing too.
And there are a bajillion other racist and sexist jokes out there, but that doesn't make it okay. That's a version of the appeal to popularity, and it is a logical fallacy.
Let me make sure I understand: because people commenting on Jezebel are inappropriate sometimes in their comments, that makes it okay? This may be an extreme example, but to me that sounds like smashing windows and stealing things during a riot just because "everyone else is doing it."
Perhaps, but I think that misses the point. Are you saying a joke can only be offensive if it's made in front of its targets? I'm trying to offer a little perspective on the experience of indigenous people of the Americas who have to deal with appropriation, jokes, and comments that would be unacceptable to most…
