GalaxyQuest was a perfect stand alone romp. There's a reason that the genre of "SciFi Comedy" has so few successful examples. Making a SciFi comedy that is appealing to not only 'nerds' but also general audiences is quite difficult. (Think about Futurama's ratings issues.) GalaxyQuest walked that line well. A

To avoid filler episodes *cough*Naruto*cough* I'm totally fine with the wait. Better to have it done right than have it rushed as well. The plot of Attack on Titan wouldn't work with filler, it's much too intense and focused.

People underestimate ancient trade all the time. Seriously look at what other feats ancient cultures achieved, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, Chichén Itzá, etc.

Makes you wonder about the trade routes existing far, far earlier, say ten millennia in the past, where a particular item might take centuries to reach the last stop on its journey.
