I REALLY wanted to like this game and when the buzz was good I hungrily snatched it up. As the end credits played though, I could only call the experience utterly mediocre. This is a must have game only because of the starved traditional jrpg landscape. If this came out during the psx days it would have been

This is 100% case by case. I don’t think one is better as a rule. If you can make a hub area fun to explore and rewarding to do so, it can really make the game feel more alive.

I know this is early footage but man is it rough looking. Like mobile game rough. Like that transformers fighting game looks better produced than this. At the very least why cant they even model X’s face right? Looks arent everything but hopefully this improves.

I’m pretty sure this is one of those situations where we’re all clearly at fault.

A game that didn’t try to live up to the expectations of what fans would want but rather a game that the developers think is fun and would actually play.

Couldn’t be arsed to take the “CONFIDENTIAL PROPERTY” sticker off I see.

Even with low expectations, I can’t help but feel like this looks like a bargain bin licensed fighting game at best.

Again, Pokemon has way more of a story than any Kirby game. Epic Yarn included (see what I did there?).

Pokemon, a children’s game and thus not worth your time.

Touche’. I guess it never comes to mind because the Caucasian characters and Japanese ones don’t really look different at all. Kiki looks identical to Satsuki even though one is presumably white and one Japanese.

Seeing Finn in the first image just made me notice this but

I can’t tell for the life of me whether you enjoyed the movie or not.

I’ve wasted 2 min of my day compared to the 20 hours I spent on ni no kuni 1 to warn people about the first game. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

I said patience, not skills or intelligence. The AI was healing and casting spells constantly when I didn’t want it to. It was terribly designed.

Spirited Away is one of my favorite films of all time. That film is dripping flavor and creativity.

Don’t. I wont be wasting my time on this junk. How could anyone be excited about this. The trailer was every terrible Jrpg cliche in one place and with terrible voice acting to boot. I gave into the hype last time and wont budge again. Probably. Maybe.

I bought the first game based on Kotaku’s strong recommendation and was greeted by a bloated, boring game, with a frustrating battle system that constantly challenged my patience with its terrible AI.

Everyone says this and I hope it’s true.

This looks identical to bloodborne graphically. Its clearly the same engine.

Without commenting on the situation can I just say these stories are literally catnip for Kotaku?
