The guys at the rental shop were really cool about it. I know now why they required insurance. I can at least have the solace that I was the first person that they've rented to who has crashed while riding rather than just tipping it over in a parking lot or hitting a parked car while leaving their shop.
Fortunately yes. But it was still a $1000 deductible (ouch). That put a setback on my next car purchase.
They're expensive to fix too. I crashed one (rental) and it cost over $5000 for a low side in some soft dirt. Awesome bike though, I would totally own one if it weren't so expensive.
