Lubrication will always make metal cutting easier. Don't take this the wrong way but I doubt they would be using any fancy material for a demonstration piece as this appears to be.
Anyone else think it's weird that they didn't use any cutting fluid/coolant/lubricant?

There are many materials that had been used in aircraft and spacecraft long before they ever made it into Motorsports. I doubt that this material making it into Motorsports will be the deciding factor.
