"Hack" is irritating and lazy. "Drone" is (occasionally deliberately) misleading yet somewhat less lazy. Both are colloquialisms that are being perpetuated by ignorant people and despite my loathing of the usage of the word "drone," it's definitely the lesser of the 2 evils.
