*"Considered sentient and dangerous. Do not approach."*
At one point you should at least shout "I'm a REAL boy!"
This is a welcome relief to what I'm rapidly suspecting as trolling in another line of conversation.
Wow, clever, you twisted my words into making it seem like I was saying that cars nowadays can't maintain highway speeds. I think you missed the part where we're talking about the operator's ability to maintain speed and not the vehicle's capability to maintain speed.
I clicked on this article thinking it was about sister blog Jalopnik author Sam Smith.
Maybe power and gearing would matter if the vehicle in question didn't have the power to maintain highway speeds. Out of curiosity, I'm all for having fun in your car but do you regularly have a blatant disregard for the speed limit or just when you think you're proving a point on the internet?
I could see that. I usually only use my cruise when I'm on a road trip. The biggest advantage is if there's someone who is going roughly the speed you want to but you don't really want to go blasting past just so you're not holding up faster traffic.
Thank you for your Car Guy Résumé but gearing has nothing to do with your ability to maintain speed. That would be the purpose of cruise control, to maintain speed, presumably on the mostly flat and straight interstate in the Midwest.
You must not drive across the midwest much.
Say what you want about electronic nannies, but adaptive cruise control is fucking awesome.
Am I reading it right that the Ecoboost and the GT are the same cost? Your second picture with the RPOs circled and hand written "Ecoboost" and "GT" seems to suggest this.
When I worked for Beechcraft we made a big deal about the Flying Doctor Service because they fly Beech KingAirs, kinda cool to be affiliated with them at that time. Years later after I left, I was on an outreach trip in Guatemala and one of the docs with us actually flew as part of that crew. It sounds incredible, I…
one of these things is not like the others... Seriously though, at first glance I was like "Cruize?" Looks at the rest of the cars realizing they were all corvettes and Camaros, has to be an SS.

Great article Tyler. Also, am I the only one who is bothered that the abbreviation for Man portable air defense systems is MANPADS? Why not M-PADS to sound less like a feminine hygiene product?
Most (nearly all) gasoline powered vehicles have a throttle regardless of EFI. You may be mistaking this for a diesel, which typically do not have a throttle. Although, many use throttles to control EGR flow.
Edit: reread the OP, you're right.
We're talking about NASCAR, what are you talking about?
