They probably had a contract for X number of vehicles but only needed some amount less than that and it would have cost them more to violate the contract than to finish it out.

Jalopnik switched over earlier this week. It has taken some getting used to. I haven't decided yet if people are just keeping it civil or we're actually getting used to it though.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't providing a bunch of anonymous apps to allow people to "embrace their inner jerk" defeating the purpose of "not feeding the trolls?"
I have a small request to ask, if it's not too much trouble. Would you kindly use the dollar-kip/hp value while reviewing cars? Many of us are interested in performance and this value is a very good way of quantifying the dollars-to-fun ratio.
Kind of like the OP, I really liked your guy's road trips. This one comes to mind. Road trips hold together the essence of why driving a car is fun in a crazy kind of way. It represents the freedom a lot of people love about having a car yet at the same time it's not just about the car.
How's your stamp collection coming along Feinberg?
You have only one, use it wisely...
There is the matter of enforcing building code. Maybe this is a rumor but it seems entirely plausible because I heard it from a friend who grew up here.
Came here to post that.
Alfa Romeo 4C - Weight: 2194 lbs Power: 240 hp Price: $54k = 494 (dollar-kips/hp)
Ah the good ole days of homoligation...
But they gave you the embedding code in the video player (not sure if this is going to work in the comments but it should when you go into html mode composing a post): <embed src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewe…" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=3260572178001&playerId=1399191810&viewerSecureGatewayURL=http:…
I think "pics or it didn't happen" goes without saying, but I'm going to anyway.
Which I use as required by the sanctioning body I race under.
Yeah. I finally broke down and bought a nice helmet (Peltor) telling myself I couldn't put a price on safety just to make the sting of spending $700 on a helmet a little less. Probably one of the best racing investments I have ever made, that helmet is awesome.
It's up to the sanctioning body. If it was an exhibition race or something they may not have required it for that either.
Or the one that they already had didn't meet their cost/weight requirement. I have experience in high and low volume automotive and I can tell you that piece costs for even very complex parts can be much lower than expected if tooling can accommodate it.
(Hat tip to Mark Huebbe!)
Definitely good for the $/speed ratio. The last few bikes I have ridden have felt like rocket ships compared to the fast cars I've driven.
