I feel the same way about every reality TV show.

Meh, Jamie isn't that bad.
One of my favorite scenes. It was so up and down; stressful and relieving; dramatic and mind bending. I think GRRM does a great job of playing wit moral ambiguity.
I worked with a guy on the airborne laser project. He used to tell stories about their F-16 chase planes and pilots having fun with them. And some of the goofy things they did with a giant 747.
It was already alluded to but whatever.
I was going to post the same thing.
That's pretty cool. IFS is pretty uncommon in the truck market although it does exist. I know Hendrickson has an air spring IFS, I wonder if this Pierce system uses an air spring or a steel spring.
I'm all right with kg. My personal dislike of tons is because it's not used in engineering to describe mass or weight. It's also an ambiguous term that people tend to associate with the weight of a typical car, this is not true.
I fixed it. Should be 23,000. For reference, semi trucks usually have front axle ratings of 12,000 lbs.
To be fair, common front axle ratings for fire trucks are around 23,000 lbs. Source: http://www.sutphen.com/ProductPages/S…
The only thing more annoying than having to obey the speed limit when driving is having to frequently stop at red lights.
Insurance didn't cover any of it except for the hospital visit. I only paid about $4k for the truck so there was no point in having collision, the racecar just had liability, trailer... I don't really know anyone who insures trailers beyond liability.
Semi trucks are different because the tandem drive axles on the tractor support a good portion of the load (most of them are rated to 40k-46k). Bumper pull trailers are only weighted about 60%/40% tongue to rear so that they don't pull too much weight off of the steer wheels on the tow vehicle. Tongue length also…
It was snowy. Also, my codriver was leading and trying for some sort of speed record. No joke, he was trying to do 80+ in a snow storm. Our fault for trying to keep up but we didn't know where we were going.
I heard a radio commercial that declared it an el-doh-RAY-doh. There is a town near Wichita, El Dorado, where everyone pronounces the name of the town that way. They tell you you're pronouncing it wrong if you say el-doh-RAH-doh claiming the city you pronounced is the mythical city of gold. Apparently they've never…
Add Atlas from DARPA's robotics challenge and I think we have a working solution...
It definitely could have been a lot worse. We rolled into one of the deep ditches along I-75 close to Gaylord, MI. The initial truck the towing company dispatched couldn't get my truck (3/4 ton) out of the ditch so they sent another one on top of having to tow the trailer and the racecar.
Yeah, 4WD, Cummins, 5spd, awesome. I only had that truck for about 5 months but here we are 4 years later and I still miss it.
My brother had a concussion and I sprained my wrist, lesson to wear your seat belt at the very least. The $650+ tow bill was no pleasure either.
Better question: Ask central Kansans (I lived in Wichita so this is the area I'm considering) how to pronounce the name of this vehicle:
