Oh yeah, to be very clear none of the Republican-run states seem to be looking at France or Germany-like situations, they’re going straight for Gilead-style stuff.

If you didn’t vote for Hillary you are responsible for this court and this decision. We all knew electing Trump meant a right wing reactionary Supreme Court. 

No one should be surprised. They said for thirty years if they controlled the court they were going to do it. And they did.

McConnell has been going out of his way to claim the US is actually just going to be more like Europe now.

It is hard not to place more emphasis on this decision than there should be. How much is too much emphasis? Men, a woman, and a dogged belief in a mythology invented millennia ago have stolen a vital right away from tens of millions of women. Women will die because of this decision.

Except of course the states don’t contain an even distribution of people, and also a voter saying “I think Roe v. Wade should not be overturned” is not the same thing as saying “And as such my first and foremost concern when I cast a ballot is where the candidate stands on abortion rights”.

This is what happens when too many of us don’t vote.

This review leaves me with a lot of questions about this doc, first and foremost what the filmmakers’ angle is. Is this a criticism of hormonal birth control from a woo woo “natural womanhood” perspective? A criticism of pharmaceutical companies? Far right natalist ideology masquerading as feminism?

I don’t know these people beyond what I read in the press, but I will say that the “but we’re a family” line is entirely meaningless and generally does nothing other than sweep a whole bunch of toxic behavior under the rug.
