You will not get an answer to this question here on Jez, mostly because it would force many of the posters to accept the fact they are hypocrites.

It is disgusting - actually nausea inducing - watching Jezebel posters here scrambling all over themselves to defend this woman's position even while they denounce all of the above practices elsewhere.

I cannot agree enough with this. Just because it's old/been around for a long time, does not make it OK. And I'm coming at this from a vegan/animal right standpoint; I eat the meats day long! But to use that excuse for anything is ridiculous...
