And not too bright either:

Unfortunately, that too is ultimately unfair to the student athlete: 1) They lose any choice over where they go - especially if the minor league system feeds the pro, 2) They lose any long term benefit from their skills - no degree, no alma mater support system, no "I went to Alabama!" cachet to help sell cars or

Well, if a student athlete chooses to spend their free educational dollars majoring in basket weaving instead of a degree that has earning potential...that's not really the NCAA or the school's fault.

Even though paying just the athletes (and most of this discussion is paying male football and, maybe, basketball players - not every scholarship athlete - since the "billion dollar industry" is not women's track) and not EVERYONE that the university system makes money off of in return for a scholarship is like say -

"They should get money because they are the free labor that is driving a billion dollar industry"

You're on your high horse here about SI's "failure" to question or condemn an "exploitative environment" (which, again, is subjective opinion, not objective fact), and beside some college freshman level rhetoric about "the exploiters", what has Deadspin done?

Does absolutely everything Deadspin publishes these days have to be cast in the light of "we're the only truth tellers raging against injustice"?

Forget about it Jake, it's Dallas fans.

Primetime is just the tip of data iceberg that's ignored here to the come the generalized "people pay to see good teams". The national scope, rivalries, impact of the game, availability of tickets, etc... Look at four of the top five:

Except Topeka's nom de plume, as I am familiar with it, is "T-Town". At least it was when I went to HS in Junction. Now, I ran for the coasts after college so I don't hear much about Topeka anymore, but when I've bitten the bullet and gone back to visit family, that's what they still call it.

I'm mostly (3/4) Korean and grew up eating rice (or rice noodles) with pretty much every meal, I thought the same thing: Rice can't make you fat. But it can. Once I spent 60+ hours a week behind a computer, I definitely did.

"In the Super Bowl era the best Eagles coaches are Andy Reid (by a MILE)"

I'm sorry, but your terrible quarterbacking aside, I fail to see how the Eagles are at fault because you can't control your temper. Or the wretchedness of the team justifies that.

Or, live in North Delaware or Bucks County and adopt a tough guy, trash talkin', surly and racist attitude at the game because "that's Philly, yo!"

Of course they're in the middle of nowhere. Dead bodies? Not In My Back Yard! *signs petition*

On the fantasy football apocalypse: Last November, Yahoo crashed right before the lineup deadlines. Given that a temporary outage during one-week of the season on one of many fantasy sites prompted quasi-legal documents like this: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/12/1… and the sheer venom on twitter

And it makes the piece pretty jarring when it shifts from "A Good Kid Gone Bad" to "Beli-chick is the Devil".

And, maybe it's just my years in Rat City, but when it comes to it, most of the crazy/sketchy dudes you get up and move bus seats because of are caucasian.

You know how I know his post of was a failure in terms of criticizing Seattle? Not one mention of the driving/traffic.

I know! Like slapping the ice cream cone out of little kid's hand! Or changing the TV at the bar to a kid's show in the last two minutes of a tight game! Man, people get pissed at that shit, and that is just the fucking best! I always say, when someone tries to enjoy something, the height of hilarity is to ruin
