Sadly, this isn’t all that uncommon. With a small development team, one person leaving can completely fuck up the entire thing, and when money and creativity get introduced to a friendship/partnership, it doesn’t take much for things to get ugly. I know this from second hand experience as my brother is a programmer.

Yeah there’s hopefully a lot of balancing to the changes with this update. Personally I thought Evolve was pretty balanced, except that medic that could turn invisible and revive hunters. He was a nightmare to deal with and when I played as him, it was too easy to just hide and res everyone.
