When I went to UMD in Duluth our men’s team was sucking for a few years, and the women’s team were repeat national champions. I think the women’s team had 1/3 the attendance, maybe less. In fucking hockey crazy northern MN with little else to do in the winter.

Had they organized the league probably would have already collapsed or never started at all...

You are really overestimating how much people have control over the process. Mostly these things get approved because it matters a lot to very rich people, so very rich people can spend time money and campaign dollars winning over politicians, who are without a doubt some of the most egotistical and self serving…
