I've been using Python + Apache to build my site at Raspberry Web Server. People say Apache is too big, but if you tune it a little it's pretty quick.

My Raspberry Pi project is a web site running on a Pi about programming . I'm using a CMS that I wrote myself. I haven't released the code for it yet, it still needs a lot of work.
I've made a web server too - mines at Raspberry Web Server. I've written a bunch of tutorials about programming on the Pi.
I've got one. It only just arrived so I haven't done much with it, but Android seems to run pretty well on it. Can't wait to get Ubuntu running on it.
You can definitely build a site like that with an RPi. My site runs on an Raspberry Pi. You can get HTML code for sharing from sharethis.com
I've got one of these set up as a web server. It' can handle way more traffic than I thought it would be able to.
