This seems like an actor’s ego at work, as the actor tries to prove that they can convincingly become someone physically very different from themselves. But... there are plenty of actors who already are old men, and maybe it would have been more appropriate (and less show-off-y) to cast one of them instead?!?!?

Respectfully, I don’t think I can agree with your statement. Like you, I feel terribly disappointed in the women who betray us. The men who victimize us are somehow less surprising; my expectations of men are lower, and therefore I’m likely to be less disappointed in the when they behave poorly.

Yeah, the vitriol toward Middleton personally seems misplaced. Kate Middleton has very little freedom here. She doesn’t get to refuse to publicly perform pregnancy and motherhood. Of course Kate Middleton doesn’t present a realistic image; being a perfect princess is like her entire goddamned job. 

The royal children belong to the Queen! Their actual parents need permission from the Queen on matters such as which school the children go to, or anytime the children will travel internationally.

I also keep thinking about how few degrees of freedom Kate Middleton actually has. She and her husband do not even formally have legal custody of their own children. Meghan Markle makes headlines when she so much as opens a car door by herself.
