Google L.O.O.K.E.R. from 1981. It was a movie that was all about this technology and then killing the actors/actresses so they wouldn't have to pay royalties. Really was a killer movie and the "looker gun" was badass.

@Zanzan42: I work in collision repair. Most of the time when a vehicle is repaired (by us) it is intact better then pre-accident.

And they still can't put a car together any better than a human.
