I completely agree the doctors tend to do a lot of stuff "on automatic". Asking the right questions can be very useful in getting them to take their blinkers (that have been strategically placed by pharmaceutical and insurance companies) off.
Step helps motivate me in a major way. I've bought a fitbit about two years ago and I have been walking 10,000 steps every day since.

You make a very good point Patrick. I have to confess that I have been guilty of this for a large part of my life. I completely agree with you. Going into something expecting failure is not a good thing either.

I completely agree that focusing on the picture for too long can be very confusing and distressing. I try and not even glance at the big picture too often because I find it so daunting.

Another good strategy is to get your kids involved in shopping for vegetables. They are far more likely to if they were involved in buying it.
I try and avoid running the roads altogether. It's very useful to run in parks and shaded areas. It's better on your joints and a lot cooler too!

Totally agree. Asking penetrating questions or questions that represent a good understanding is another great way to demonstrate how much you've picked up on the job.
