DH grows Habanero, Ghost (Bhut Jolokia), and Thai Dragon chile peppers. I got an Egyptian Walking Onion about 3 years ago, and it has multiplied into enough to set a whole section of the garden with onions. This year, I'm also growing Pigeon Peas and I'm replanting a Comfrey that somehow found a way to die last year.

Once I learned to not be intimidated by making pizza crust, pizza is a regular item on the dinner menu. I can either toss the dough ingredients into my bread machine or hand knead the dough. Hand kneading takes less time, so if I'm in a hurry, I'll hand knead it.

+1 for the Pressure Cooker.

I use my Borner (a particular mandoline slicer brand) slicer often and keep a plastic sandwich baggie of chopped onions in the fridge at all times.

I got a cast iron pizza pan. Pizza went from being a rare treat to being a regular dinner item. Love it!

I use a keyboard and/or screen to write nearly everything, but I still write my grocery shopping list on a pad of 3x5 tear-off sheets of paper. This in the face of many, many nice grocery shopping apps out there. Part of the reason, is that my DH isn't a techie, and this allows him to add to the list in his preferred

Normally, I don't mind helping out a little bit where I can; I can usually spare a dollar or two if I have it on me.

I haven't noticed any problems. I've been using this method for about 20 years. I haven't ever tried binder clips, so I can't say.

I've been doing this for years, and this is my preferred way to deal with boots.

We homeschooled. While it's a serious matter to take up your child's education yourself, it was lovely to bypass the horror stories about kids being home deathly sick for weeks with strep, only to be relentlessly hounded by truant officers, and to schedule school around our own family's needs.

I love furoshiki. It's different, beautiful and useful. It's also a step away from our throw away society. Get a square of fabric and make a bag, book tote, bottle tote or wrap a box. Special thanks to the Japanese for coming up with this.

I have a cast iron pizza pan. I find that the cast iron compensates for not having a pizza oven, because it radiates heat so well.

Good Word. . .

My most frugal go-to meal is refried beans and tortilla chips with chopped onions, chopped cilantro, salsa and home grown, dried chiles. I buy 20lbs of beans for about $18. One pot of beans is made from about 3 cups of beans cooked in the pressure cooker (1.25 hours cooking time). This makes enough refried beans for at

I bought myself a cast iron pizza pan and learned how to make my own pizza crust, so I'm set. It takes an expensive purchased item that can be had only rarely, and turns it into an almost regular dinner item. Yes, it's not the cheapest, most frugal meal, but it brings a bit of luxury to a usually frugal table for

My wardrobe had been sorely lacking for a long time. I only had 3 skirts and lots of white tops, so I spent some money on jackets and scarves/shawls to extend what I already had. It made a big difference. My friends think I have a lot more than I actually do now. Illusion is a valid strategy.

I can do a lot of stuff. Build a computer. Fix a computer. Build Websites. Make soap. But the one skill I am always and ever grateful for was learning to cook. Knowing how to take scraps and make a pot of soup, or 67 ways to make chicken or beef, how to make cornbread, etc. Oh, and gravy, the Magical Binder With

It may not apply to everyone, but we've been making our own baby food.

Exactly.

We use another VoIP system (PhonePower), but it's priced pretty much the same.
