I don't know about that. I mean I get what you mean. Someone is probably going to troll and the more people the more likely. But by encouraging niceties and such I think they could probably make some impact on that chance. Obviously they can't really do much about things out of their control though.

I think one of the bigger things is that they haven't done anything in the past few months to seriously piss anyone off. There's still lingering anger from SimCity/BF4 (the latter being more fresh), but the most recent impression is from Titanfall, which by all accounts has been pretty good.

As much as I'm not an achievement/trophy whore, I point to the above article Mr. Fahey provided as evidence in favor of not having trophies in the online components of games.

Did you ever play RFoM online? The first one, not any of the others. The first one, I would argue had the best online multiplayer structure of any console game I've played online. In game friends list, invite system, clan system, as well as ranked/unranked matches, the ability to customize unranked matches.
