Ok, I see, the dysfunctional Legislative branch declared themselves to be dysfunctional and passed the Fast Track because they knew they would be incapable of passing the classified TPP without allowing lobbyists to attach riders that would foment filibuster.
And the point of Fast Track was to ram the TPP (which was classified) through Congress without debate or amendments by “our” representatives.
The TPP is intended to provide protections, but it is anticipated to fail to actually provide many desired protections. So, is pulling out of the TPP protectionist, anti-protectionist, or anti-anti-protectionist?
Why not bake those protections right into the agreement? Why not provide for an enforcement authority?
Note, anti-TPP language was not allowed to become part of the official Democratic Party Platform. Had Hillary Clinton won the general election, I expected the TPP to be signed into law prior to her inauguration.
I will always wonder why the Fast Track bill was acceptable, and why the Fast Track bill was allowed to be CLASSIFIED. Were our rulers flipping us the bird?
