One potentially-positive aspect of this I haven’t seen voice yet though is that the revenue-sharing with the game developer would provide an incentive to make more games modable.

Thank god she was solo, or this video would have been 7x as long what with all the waiting for people to join and system-terminated missions because someone dropped or, god forbid, died during it.
Empire 2, PLEASE!
Which part seems off? It started as a manga, then there was the anime. The character names and architecture are western European (primarily Franco-German). Their weaponry is Napoleonic-era field guns (cannons), swords, semi-automatic rifles... Even the 3D gear is chords, pulleys, and steam-powered.
Not drunk enough.
He’s probably in a corner somewhere voicing another existential crisis out loud rather than in his mind.
I feel like the thought process was probably like this:
Yup, and that’s just one of the problems with this movie.
Do you know if the ability to annotate paragraphs has been removed? I can’t seem to add a comment to the end of paragraphs anymore, though I can still do it with pictures.
And the volleyball nets. AMAZINGLY resistant to physics.
Man, I felt like that today, doing the mission where you have to steal an SUV, drive it to some industrial site, hack a laptop, then go to the airport. I did the whole thing, on hard, solo, but was thwarted by the damn airport fence. The GPS said to just drive right through, but the gate wouldn’t open.
Fair enough, and hence my original comparison, to a film school film or a cosplay thing. It looks pretty amazing when compared against that kind of effort. We both agree that comparing it to a Hollywood movie is unfair and unflattering.
But it seems they CAN’T do it, at least not well. I’m sure they have good actresses and directors, so WTF is up with the performance of the girl playing Hange Zoe? I’m sure they have beautiful skies and know how to make smoke, so why not use real skies with smoke rather than that awful CG skybox? They have direct…
I’m saying, if you’re going to do it, do it right. If they don’t have the budget to make a live-action version of this look good, then don’t do a live-action version of it. Just take the skyboxes as a simple example. They generally look completely fake. So, either invest enough money for convincing CG skies, or use…
Well, let’s just focus on the skyboxes. They look terrible. Either invest enough money for convincing CG effects, or do it the old fashion way, with real skies.
It still looks like a film school/cosplay thing. The special effects/CG stuff in particular, but also the expressions and camera work (angles/frames/pans). The Titan head coming over the wall does look pretty good though.
Too bad the Q/A with the PR guy ended before the trailer was shown. I would have liked to hear is thoughts on what “Game Engine Footage” means, because it’s exactly the kind of vague language that feels really deceptive, like moving bullshots.
Too bad this came after the Q/A with the PR guy. I would have liked to hear his explanation of what “Game Engine Footage” really means.
For rejuvenating times, make it...Suntory time.
Somehow, a gun whose barrel looks nice on the outside but is non-functional and is too narrow to fire its bullets anyway seems an apt metaphor for Destiny.
