Oh, you want PTSD care? Me, me, me, that's all I hear from you kids!

The olds are calling us narcissistic because we don't worship children or the corporate workplace, two American religions based on the morality of self sacrifice. We also are extremely well versed in social bullshit and prize self-awareness. We play with that and it looks like narcissism. It'd be more accurate to call

Nails it, indeed. She gets it SO right. Depression sucks for awhile and then it stops sucking and just starts being... nothing. Getting out of the "nothing" stage is soooo fucking hard, and some days it feels like I'm scratching and clawing to STAY out of the "nothing."

When my teen students were carrying them around in class, reading at breaks, etc, I snagged a copy from one and read it.

I don't necessarily hate the concept—just giving your wife something nice because you appreciate her—but I hate the idea that it's turning into another excuse to ask for "bling," and I HATE HATE HATE the term "push present." It makes my skin crawl.

IRELAND? Are you kidding me?

Juat a note on Ireland from an Irish perspective; Ireland ranks highly here but I would take it with a pinch of salt. If you're pregnant and want to be then yes it's a great place for expectant mothers. However as the Savita case has shown if you're having any sort of crisis pregnancy then these numbers are skewed.

I'm assuming that this is because such a large part of the population lives in rural villages. In my family everyone was born at home in the village, the moms didn't even have ongoing prenatal care - no doctors or hospitals around.

is "Save the Children" the organization which keeps harassing me in the street no matter how strong my Fuck You vibe is?

India has the highest rate of first-day deaths in the world, with 309,300 babies dying within the first 24 hours of life each year—that's nearly 1,000 dead newborns a day. It makes up 29% of first-day deaths in the world.

The one and only time I reported a domestic violence situation resulted in me getting death threats from the perpetrator until he was finally arrested for something else. It's noble and great to think we'd speak up, but until you're in that situation, it's impossible to say "why didn't so and so speak up?" or "why

The problem is that we call it "domestic violence" and tuck it away into it's own special little niche that somehow supposedly has different rules. If a man hits another man, it's assault and battery. If a man hits a woman related to him, it's "domestic violence". If a person on the street hears a loud argument

If he believes that murderers can change then he must be against capital punishment, right Pat?

Love this. All my life I've dealt with the purity myth, and hearing Elizabeth Smart's statement today really hit home. I defined myself for so long by how valuable I was to others, based entirely on my appearance and sexual purity.

Excellent. All the clapping gifs. All of them. This especially: The sexualization of women is only appealing if it's nonconsensual. Otherwise it's "sluttiness," and sluttiness is agency and agency is threatening and so, therefore, sluttiness must equal disposability.

There is much to dislike about this man, but good for him for taking these steps. Regardless of what his eventual goals are, he's doing something about his health, so yay for that.

I would like to personally congratulate everyone for keeping the trolls in the gray. No feeding! Keep up the good work, Jezzies!

What? No, that's not at all what I said.

I just freaked out because that's my ex at 2:02. Here's the thing, though: I'm black, and his current girlfriend is white.
