I’ll be honest-I enjoyed Larry’s set and I could give two shits about a black guy using a slang term of endearment to address another black guy, especially since Larry knew what he was doing - drumming up publicity for a solid show that goes out of its way to feature black comics/issues/panel members.

I just watched the whole thing and I loved every minute of it. I’m a middle age (42) white liberal white lady, and I’m wondering what the fuck is going on with the audience. Good for Larry pushing harder.

I loved his monologue - and loved the awkward-white-people reaction shots in the crowd almost as much. I also loved how Larry Wilmore did not give a single fuck about the audience. He straight up did not care about their opinion or their reactions except to laugh at them for being a tough (white) crowd.

To be fair, most white people are comfortable with jokes about race as long as they’re the ones making it, not the ones receiving it. At least from my experience. Props to Wilmore though. His show deserves more recognition than it gets.
