Most other countries seem to have figured out something that America just can’t: if third-party liability insurance is legally mandatory, instead of letting assholes find ways around it and drive uninsured, they just made third-party liability insurance a public, tax-funded thing.
I did read something a while back talking about how in Japan they generally don’t prosecute unless they’re 99% sure they’ll win, because losing cases would cause them (the DA office I guess) to lose face. So they have a very high rate of successful criminal prosecutions, but most crimes don’t ever go to trial.
To branch the topic out a bit more, I always find myself confused by the number of people who are never satisfied with the endings of stories unless they are finite.
