You're welcome for the sincere and thoughtful warning.

I don't remember anything in the film that was too disturbing. I think the story likely works a LOT better as a novel (I've seen the film but not read the book), and when you have no access to the inner life of the protagonist it's just a lot of seven minute long shots of Scarlett Johansson staring at a slice of cake.

I find that description to be INCREDIBLY generous. I've been reading through the positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, trying to figure out exactly what I was missing. Most of them do more to affirm my analysis, it's just that people enjoyed the aspects that drove me bananas.

Let me warn you now that this film is a CHORE

I saw this movie at the Toronto International Film Festival last weekend, and it's one of the WORST films I've ever seen. The kind of movie where you leave the theater ANGRY at it for stealing your life. Breaks Kurt Vonneguts cardinal rule for art: wastes your time.

David then called up a phone sex chatline, which got him in hot water with a Utah mattress store owner when he refused to be a victim to his blackmail scheme. Things fizzled when he confronted the mattress store owner in person, saying he had more strength in him than the slimeball could imagine.

Unreal
